I've been looking at them, but don't know much. I was told the older ones were 2 channel, then a while back they went to 3 channel. Did they go back to 2 again, or did I have my info backwards?

No, the new ones are still 3 channel, just with some slight revisions. Now they have a 100/50 watt switch for each channel, tuner output, and some other minor changes.
