Thoughts on this amp?

Maybe an old Fender Roc Pro 1000 combo? Yngwie used one on his Concerto album and Full Shred DVD. I also used to have the head version, and it was very nice.
The first run of Marshall Valvestates were nice... the 8100 and 8200 series.

Thank dude, another one I will add to the list to check out. I just recently got back into a band and trying to get my shit together. Screamin n shredin doesn't come cheap. Its like I hardly even get to really think much about my tone cause like "speed"...tone seems to cost....fml....

Sure is fun to scream n shred again with a band... I'm 42 feel like I'm goin on 20....

Since you are in Canada, check out the Traynor YCS50 combo. Bargains can be had on them, although you are looking in the high hundreds, you are getting a feature packed tube combo.

I don't know if there is a L&M near you, but they carry the line.

I just bought a used Line 6 Spider II 2x12 for $150 a couple weeks ago. I've used it for a few practices and a gig this evening and it worked great. It cut through the mix fine and sounded great. Yeah, I would have preferred a Mesa or something but for the versitility and portablility I feel it was $150 well spent.

The line6's I've played sound good but I haven't ever played with them at REALLY high volumes....thanks for the comment. Others, here are not saying great things about them.....its so hard to say without actually trying one a rehearsal.....

Fender Roc Pro line were pretty darn good amps and can be had really cheap.
The kid down the street got one of the half stacks for $350 last week and I thought is was a decent sounding amp.
Takes pedal well too.

Well, I tried an 8100 Valvestate. It was in great condition. I found one for a REALLY good price and I REALLY wanted to like it. But really I didn't. It wasn't horrible, but the gain wasn't as aggressive as I thought, it sounded very vintage. I think I was expecting too much? I’m going to look at a XXX peavey 120Watt. I know the Peavey’s have some higher gain….I’ve had to add some more monies to this part of the “back in a band” spending spree…..

I hear you bro. I didn't mean to crap on your amp. If I had $150.0 to spend on an amp that I needed for rehearsals and gigs I would certainly consider a modeling amp. Heck.. I used them live for years until I could afford the higher end stuff.

Well in the last, oh, ten days or so...I have tried a Peavey XXX 120 212, a line6 spyder II, Didn't love either.... Found a fender I actually liked (dirt, dirt cheap). Bought it. Took it to rehearsal. HATED IT . Ditched it. And now I'm on the look hunt again. I found a Traynor YCV80 I'm going to check out and a line6 flextone III. Man I'm TIRED of this, I NEED TONE. GIVE ME FUKIN TONE! I HAVE NO MONEY FOR TONE BUT I NEED TONE!!

The Traynor YCV series is voiced a little more 'vintagey'. Try the YCS Series for harder edged tones. They have the YCS-50 (1x12) and 90 (2x12) for combos.

Thanks dude...I will keep an eye out for that model. I'm going to go listen to the YCV. Hell, maybe it will make a good base even if I need a distortion pedal out front....I'm not a big fan of vintage tone so thats good info....

I HAVE FUCKIN TONE !! FINALLY!!! NAD !!!

After trying amp after amp and always being let down I finally found it. I picked up a Traynor YCV80 and seriously, this thing KILLS. I'm using an old RG570 with a gravity storm in the bridge as my main player and I LOVE the tone I get. Big, thick, rich and fuckin chocolaty. Very flexible. Awesome clean channel (not that I care cause I don't use it, but maybe someday) I got it for 300, which, is a pretty decent price. No, it’s not a Marshall or a 5150, etc of course not. But for 300 I don’t think I could do any better. If any of you get a chance plug into one of these things. check it out. I think there are some higher end Traynor’s.....but I’m happy as SHIT with this thing....happy as SHIT....Shredding and screaming shall now commence.....
