Thanks for the input so far guys, it's been a long time since I bought new amplification...I actually have 3 heads, a Peavy ultra 60 I bought in 93 and two Crate blue voodoos from 2001 or so. Two cabs as well, a late 80's peavy butcher and one blue voodoo. Also have a line 6 xt live with the metal pack of course. Bunch of rack gear too. I wouldn't mind a smaller more portable amp that would sound nice jamming stuff like Gojira on. Thanks again guys...Hear the universe scream

I am going to suggest the Peavey Triple XXX 60w 1 x 12 combo. It will literally rip your face off. I have one and it has 3 channels. Clean, crazy and really friggin crazy. It has more gain than any human could ever want and it was affordable. If you plug a little patch cord in the back in the effects send and return you could use the footswitch to dial in a fantastic solo boost that is adjustable because the effects loop on the amp has a level control on it. Very cool hidden feature. That gives you 3 channels and solo boost through one 3 button footswitch!
Just don't expect serious palm muting chunk from ANY 1 x 12 or 2 x 12 combo. Because they are generally open or semi open back they just won't give you the thump.

I recently picked up a used Traynor YCV80. I had to fuck with it to get my tone but now, I have to say, I'm VERY happy with it. Ithink you’re going to have to fuck with your tone with any combo. For me, the solution was to put an overdrive pedal (Bad Monkey) out front and turn down the amps gain. Now, it KILLS. Contrary to popular believe, I get tons of muting chunk out of this combo and could likely even get more if I put an EQ in front as well. I’m not really into clean tones, but it has a fantastic clean channel if that interests you.-Now....shut up n play yer guitar

I've owned a couple of 5150 combos , not bad but they are freaking loud and don't sound too good at lower volumes.
(typical 5150 stuff)
I recently picked up a JSX combo (on a lark to use with my Axe FX II) and I threw a 10 band EQ in the loop and put a modified SD-1 in front of it and it surprised the shit out of me. it sounds great at all volumes and it has a ton of usable gain on tap, this thing can get plenty heavy sounding, plus it's way more versatile that a 5150 combo ever will be LOL! check one out they are going for much cheaper these days since satch flew the coup back to marshall. If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

That's my experience with most amps. EQ on loop, OD in front as need to tighten it up..Every man dies... Not every man really lives!!
