I have an egnator rebel 20 and love it. I think it's more natural sounding and has better cleans and OD than the blackstar stuff. It doesn't have the gain of the Blackstars but it takes pedals nicely. I got mine used fairly cheap on a whim and no complaints.

I have heard some killer sound clips from Stormshadow Guitars. They are an amp and guitar builder in the UK. Check them out if you have a chance.

I did like my egnater, I always thought any of my pedals sounded great up front and didnt notice much difference in the loop. There wasnt enough gain on tap though. But what Toejam said - time based pedals up front on my orange dont sound good at all. Great i the loop though. I would have been gutted if I'd bought the orange and it didnt have the loop
