I like the concept and ordered a couple. Looking forward to trying them out.

Do these also work on single coils? If so I may pick up more...

Bert, we are working the designs for the single and some bass pick ups as well. Thanks.

Well said, Cliff. I was going to respond earlier but decided against to avoid having to deal with all the misunderstandings, misconceptions, etc.

Cliff did nail it on the head. They look cool to me. My promods have the pickups solid mounted but will be looking into doing a few of these on a couple of my other guitars. I just don't like my pickups moving. Annoys the crap out of me

In this case, the string wouldn't be moving relative to the pickup, so there'd be no change in magnetic field and hence no sound. You can imagine less extreme cases where the relative vibration of pickup and string would increase the volume of some frequencies and decrease othes.
Exactly what is being said. This is also true of harmonic frequencies from the fundamental wavelengths.

              Great idea, Mike!

When retrofitting this to existing guitars, are you thinking it will just screw into the bottom of the route or do you need to chisel out some space for it?

I watched he installation video from Floyd Upgrades and no routing or chiseling is required. It just screws right into the cavity.

I have been routing a channel in the guitars that I build. But you do not need to do the route for an aftermarket application.

A person could route that channel that if needed, but more than likely never the situation.

I am an engineer and would like to see the R&D testing results to prove it...otherwise if you think it improves tone and sustain then it DOES improve tone and sustain to YOU regardless if no one else can and in a nutshell that is all that matters If you feel people are talking shit Mike...throw the data out there (if it exits at all) and prove it otherwise it is a possible placebo affect. Something subjective as tone is tough for every ear to hear the same things...Ive did this with body woods, neck woods, bridges, blocks, pots, etc over the years to where I personally could hear a difference when some folks couldn't. Bottom line if snake oil makes you believe you sound better then buy snake oil be happy with your tone

If there is indeed a change in tone and sustain, I wonder if it is simply due to an increase in body mass? In other words, if this piece of brass was mounted anywhere I wonder if it would have the same effect? Think something like the "Fat Finger" headstock attachment that was on the market awhile back.
