  • Ampeg vh-140c head???

O.K. lets here it is the VH-140C THE BEST SOLID STATE HEAD out there??...To the Lucky one's out there who actually possess one of these Bad-Boys is this Head as BAD-ASS as they say it is? Is the Distortion as Nasty like RIP YOUR FACE OFF or do you need to "Boost" it like a Randall RG80 or 100ES to get it sounding even Nastier? Just wondering if this is as Killer as some say it is. There's one local @ a Killer Price or possibly a Trade??? & I am wondering about giving it a try? I have a few Randall RG Heads (Back from the Dime Days) They are Killer Heads & do sound even better with a tiny "Boost"! Thanks for any & all info! LONG LIVE THE M-E-T-A-L! \m/

they are quite nice on their own. it is the only SS amp I would ever consider owning. I know thom youngblood from kamelot uses one as his main amp.
      GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

      and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

        Never even knew it existed.
When I think high quality SS, I think of Randall first.

I had one of these. It was my main amp for almost 10 years back in the day. It's a killer amp for a SS. I wish I still had it. It had a ton of gain!

                        Don't call me Shirley

And a quick way to remember the word in question is to remember the root word: finite.

(No such "English" word as finate)

sorry to disagree as i like the vh 140c...but i have a first year ss 140c that has slayed every other solid state amp i have ever heard...the first year was very different from the later years and eventually it morphed into the vh 140c...and the vh series is the closest you can get to the ss series...i have owned 3 vh series ampes as well as 4 different ss series and the one i kept was the best of the bunch...but congrats on a great amp as the vh series most certainly is...d.m.

oh and btw...you will not need to boost it...it should have more than enough gain for whatever you need it for...d.m.
