  • Used Jackson Cab, and NAD

I picked up this used Jackson cab a while back, just never posted any pics. Only thing wrong with it was missing Jackson logo on front, which I'd really like to find, but have been unable. Also picked up a new Rocktron Velocity 300 power amp. I picked up the Rocktron to allow me to run my rig in stereo. So, my rig runs as follows now. Guitar into the Digitech GSP1101 for effects before the preamp such as compressor and overdrive. Into the Carvin V3M for preamp. Out back into the GSP1101 for modulation effects. Left out of the GSP1101 back into the V3M for power stage into the Jackson cab, right out of the GSP1101 into the Rocktron V300 for power stage into the Randall cab. Created a few really defined stereo patches in the GSP1101 and this rig sounds killer. The V3M serves as preamp for both sides since I love the tone I get out of this amp. No hiss, no noise. I'm finally happy with my rig after 29 years!!! Threw in a Bad Horsie II for wah, and all is good. I actually love the sound of this cab mated with the V3M. I did a comparison between the Randall and the Jackson in mono, and the Jackson just had more bawlz. The Rocktron is just a no frills, quiet poweramp which fits my needs perfectly.

Oh, I need that Randall cab...it's being used to run my rig in stereo. I've got a RG100es sitting off to the side. It just got to be too noisy and there's something fried in there. I can get the same tones I used to get outta my RG100es using my V3M and GSP1101 and more. That Randall was my one and only amp since 1989...finally had to retire her about a year or two ago. But the cab with the Jags keeps on keepin on...

And the Jam space is my happy place!!! You're right, nothing like putting in a crappy day of work, which is everyday, and coming home to let out some aggression! Plus it drives my asshole neighbor crazy...he deserves it. All that firepower faces his master bedroom!

I remember in one of my other Threads you said that you had a RG100ES. That is KILLER to know that you have held on to all this time! I know over the years (even back in the 80's) I got rid of some stuff that I am regretting but when your young you do stuff like that. Hey live & learn. Me personally I LOVE THE JAG SPEAKERS! Man I wish I was closer to you It would be Awesome to come & jam with you in there for awhile! Your about 2-2-1/2 hrs from me. Again A-W-E-S-O-M-E Jam room! Take It Easy...\m/

In your opinion how is your Jackson Cab? Do they sound good...good for the M-E-T-A-L? I see G/C has some...one for $120 with Black Speakers..Decent price or ? Any difference in the Speakers being RED or Black or is it just the Cone/Paper?

After posting this, I realized I actually bought this thing in '87 (not '89), a few months before I bought my brand new 1987 Charvel Model 4. Still got em both, but then again, I haven't ever sold a piece of gear, ever. I still have every stomp box, tuner, guitar, etc since I started playing in '85.

If you're in FL like it says you are, 2 - 2 1/2 hours if you've got an F-16. I'm out in CA, SF bay area.

Hey I forgot to ask you I see you have a Digitech GSP1101...How do you like it? I have seen some Videos on Y/Tube & it looks pretty good? Can you just run your Axe into it & then the GSP straight to your Amp Input or ? Are the Patches pretty decent that it comes with? Some of them sounded real good on this Guys Video.....# 4 is Killer \m/

Yeah, you can run it that way if you'd like. It has a wizard that sets it up for you based on how you want to run it. I don't run mine that way, I use the 4 cable method. I don't use any of the stock patches, I only use the unit for effects, no amp or cab simulations on. I find the effects to be quite good and for the $200 I paid for it, I couldn't pass it up for the sheer number of effects it has. It would have cost me a fortune to buy all those stomp boxes, and I hate doing the stomp box tap-dance. I set up various combos of effects and program that to be a preset, then just step on my MIDI footcontroller once! The unit sounds pretty good direct into my QSC PA rig, but as always the hi gain stuff just doesn't even come close to a real tube amp. If I were recording clean stuff, I would do it direct with the unit, it's very quiet, has Lexicon verbs, and sounds great.
