My black tolex RG 100 ES is an 85 as well!!! It's amazing that it's 28 years old and still stands up to my Marshall JVM's. I doesn't have as many options but it's dirty channel and clean channel are among the best sounding I've ever heard.Last edited by leftykingv2; 09-03-2013, 06:41 PM.This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. My Randall SS power amp when I had it in my rack would rattle the pictures off the wall in next bedroom as well as the living room 30 ft away.
And the 2 4X12's were facing opposite of those two rooms my 50 watter tube amps can't do that.Never have yet anyway.Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Running cabs in series (daisy chaining) will actually increase the impedance (assuming it's wired that way). Always follow the rule "series adds, parallel divides". In this case, two 8 ohm cabs in series would be a 16 ohm load, so while it's not ideal, it's not going to blow anything up. Even a tube amp will be okay if you run a higher impedance cab than recommended but it might lower the volume, and alter the tone somewhat. The OPs amp is actually pretty clearly labelled compared to some amps as far as what you can plug into it.
