this may be a stupid question, but can i unplug the cab if I just want to use the line out? or will using the line out automatically bypass the speaker outputs? i was considering picking one up again butnever used the line out when i had one.

My guess would be you still have to have the cab load connected..

I wouldn't unplug the cabinet unless you find a manual that says 100% that it's okay. Generally with the new amps like the Marshall's they have an output mute. I do know that the Marshall TSL says in the handbook to NEVER run the head unit without an extension Cabinet plugged into the head. I am not sure about the Carvin V3 but here is the PDF with everything you need to know. From what I see there is a line out level which should allow you to adjust volume of the line out and maybe figure out a way to mute the cab. I know it says something about a simulated cabinet as well. Hope this helps bro. http://www.carvinworld.com/manuals/V3.pdf

This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.
