+1 to Roodyrocker and Hellbat. The JMP-1 is the preamp and it's basically what gives you all your sounds. The Dual Monobloc is just the power section of the set up. You can run just about any rack mountable preamp with the Dual Monobloc. I use the JMP-1 but Roodyrocker uses the JFX-1. Another example of someone you've heard playing a Dual Monobloc is Dave Mustaine. He's using it and the Rocktron Prophesy I do believe. Here's a pic of Mustaine's rig. Okay makes sense. I don't have that piece of equipment. Maybe I should look into getting one. I can probably find one reasonably priced on the bay or maybe not.

Exactly as VitaminG said. The JFX1 is the multi effects processor Marshall made back at the time as the companion unit to the JMP1. I use the JMP1 for the preamp, the JFX1 for the effects, and the Dual Monobloc for the power amp

I have an Eventide Eclipse V4 that I am using for my effects. It's a really great processor. I'd have to try the JFX-1 out before I dropped that kind of coin on one. Besides the Eclipse is pretty awesome unit in my opinion. I bought the JMP-1 and the Dual Monobloc off of a friend about 6 years ago for $1200.00 bucks for the pair. I love the way it sounds and I thought it was a pretty fair deal considering they had like zero mileage on them because he never used them.

Your Eventide Eclipse is a much more sophisticated effects processor than the JFX1. The JFX1 is pretty basic but its sounds are warm. The JFX1 has sort of a cult following. BTW lefty, I bought one if my Marshall rack setups off a guy out in your neck of the woods about a year and half ago. Drove out to Pittsburgh from the Warren/Youngstown area to pick them up

You can't go wrong with this rack setup. Weight is the biggest downside but hey, that's what roadies and wheels are for

Yeah, Pitt is about an hour from me so I went and checked it out in person and brought it back. Shippers would have probably destroyed it! I'm with you Lefty, I go for those Marshall stacks too I do use a Bad Cat Hot Cat 30 combo in small places. It's a screaming little amp that can keep up with half stacks

What they don't realize is I don't care how big it is. I like the sound of a Marshall 100 watt tube amp and a 4x12 cab or more. The size of what I am playing through is only a coincidence. If it fit in my pocket I'd be playing it as long as it sounded like it does. That's all I care about. What it sounds like and forget everything else.

Thing is a cab/head setup may be bigger, but tube combos are often harder to lug around because of their singular weight. i.e. it's easier to carry two lighter items than one gigantic item.

Sounds like you just need a new set of power tubes and proper bias. I get it though. I'd rather just grab my head and plug into whatever cab is available. Hauling gear sucks!

It was the preamp tubes. We figured it out on page one.
