Look into JVM410HJS, it's the Joe Satriani Signature JVM, except with four built in noise gates in place of the reverb. Which you will need a higher volumes, I have the 410H and I love it although I push it with a Maxon OD808 into an MXR SmartGate.

Thanks, guys. I've been reading about the Satriani model and to be honest, I would rather have the reverb intact. I really like reverb (used in moderation).

Big Al, thanks for the tip about the G-String. I'll go and check that out.

Not a huge fan of the JVM. Heard them live.. several times. They sound good but not great. For $1000.00 you could get much better sound and construction.
The JVM is generic Marshall tone to my ears. Although the build construction is better.. I don't think it sounds that much better than a stock DSL100.

Keep in mind what you are comparing the JVM too currently. The biggest flaw in the entire Line 6 line up is getting a great high gain Marshall tone. They still haven't figured it out so what you are comparing the JVM to is a crappy Marshall processed fake tone. The Vetta does an absolutely horrible Marshall high gain tone. In regards to Marshall tone, the Vetta does a good job with clean JCM900 tone and can almost fake a mid to low gain Plexi but it just sucks for anything JCM800, jCM900, JCM2000 and above.

Take that JVM and compare it to a bone stock Peavey JSX or a Triple X and you won't think it sounds that good. One of the best Marshall tones I have ever heard was coming from a Frayette VHT.

Also.... the Line 6 cabs will not do any tube amp justice. They are bottom heavy and flubby... if that's a word.

Hey get an EVH 5153. Ive got a 50 watter and its an incredible amp at all volume levels. Heres a clip of the 100 watter I think its got a great tone. The JVM's are way too noisy if you are using the gain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSCQpd9VlfQ

I agree that the Marshall tones on the Vetta really suck. The JCM 800 one sounds nothing at all like the JCM 800 I used to have.

About 90% of what I actually use is the Modern Hi-Gain model, which is based on the Soldano X88R preamp. Ironically, they left this model OUT of the original Vetta, then released it for the Vetta II software.

I can actually get a decent Marshall sound, though, using the Modern Hi-Gain model and whatever cab it is. I switch the cabs a lot when experimenting.

That's the other amp I'm considering, along with the Axe-FX. Neither is very cheap. I'm not trying to be such a cheapskate but I want to know that the amp is really what I want before buying.

Okay, I watched a few videos of the JSX and it's really just not doing it for me. I would love to try out a JVM and an EVH back to back.

Thanks. Yeah, they both sound great. Of course, he's also a great player.

A couple of people asked if the DSL was stock and he never answered. Do you think it is?

Ok heres 1 last vid for ya. Probably the most accurate tones as its stand alone no band mix. The first 5 min is a description of specs and then a few different guys play a few different guitars through it on all 3 channels mostly channel 3. A little goofy at times but Rob actually is a good player. Ok bro good luck in your search .
Greetings and thank you for watching this video. Below are some links to products that I use: ThomannMy guitar ►► https://redir.love/61EwP3naMy amp ►► htt...

That's far & away my favorite model that L6 ever did.

Have you looked at the DT series of amps by L6? I had the DT25H, and once I updated all the amp models, it was really a great sounding amp with lots of options once you get to one you dig. Seems that the "Modern High Gain" is in the update for it? Or at least some kind of Soldano...

Yep. In my humble opinion, the original Modern Hi-Gain is by far the most amazing tone Line 6 ever came up with. That's another gripe I have with Guitar Center; all they carry by Line 6 in my local store is the Spider crap. I can use the "Insane" setting if I just want a general, vague feel for how a guitar sounds with gain, but I really don't like it. I love the older Flextone amps and have two of them. I think they're great for what they are and also cheap these days.

So no, I haven't had a chance to try any of their stuff higher-end than the Spiders. But honestly, I think I want to go tube this time.

I'm getting more and more interested in Splawn.
