  • Peavey JSX questions

I've had a JSX combo for about a year now and could never seem to get the tone I was looking for. I would almost get there but something always seemed lacking. Decided to look at a few things and it has a set of 6L6s instead of the EL34s. Should I switch tubes back to EL34s or go after something else? I would like to be able to do a very thick distortion tone and not so sure I can get there with this amp.
    It's pronounced soops

EL34's will make that amp sound big and warm. Guitarist from an old band has a head and it will get you there. He uses JJ tubes btw. Good luck sir.
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

It has JJ 6L6s in it. I was reading that KT77s would be ideal but I just got a trade offer through craigslist. Smaller amp and some cash. Hope I like the Blackstar HT5c
