I've had a JSX combo for about a year now and could never seem to get the tone I was looking for. I would almost get there but something always seemed lacking. Decided to look at a few things and it has a set of 6L6s instead of the EL34s. Should I switch tubes back to EL34s or go after something else? I would like to be able to do a very thick distortion tone and not so sure I can get there with this amp.

EL34's will make that amp sound big and warm. Guitarist from an old band has a head and it will get you there. He uses JJ tubes btw. Good luck sir.I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

It has JJ 6L6s in it. I was reading that KT77s would be ideal but I just got a trade offer through craigslist. Smaller amp and some cash. Hope I like the Blackstar HT5cIt's pronounced soopsComment
