New Amp Inbound

I just bought a Fender Mustang V amp and Mustang 4x12 cab. The cab arrived yesterday and I'm expecting the head tomorrow. I might still pursue the JVM later down the road, but for now, the Mustang really appeals to me. If I like it as much as I think I will, the Vetta rig is going bye-bye.

This is exactly the lead tone I love. The Flextone II gives me this but the Vetta just won't or can't. After six+ years of tweaking the Vetta, I'm over it.

Really? I dropped a Marshall JVM in favor of another modeler and there are ZERO comments? No flames? No "gay" remarks? Nothing about the horse I rode in on?

WOW....GAY....

I like modeling amps because they give what most tube amps can't, a ton of variety in tones. Some do somethings better than others but they are usually tweakable

I still like the Marshall and I might revisit that eventually, but I'm not in a band. And if I ever do play live, that's what the PA is for.

You will get no grief from me I think they sound impressive.
I have used this Behringer V tone analog modeler since 2004 and have used it live a few times.
Great tone, great amp and cab simulations, effects all of it is great.
Cab is solid the the Jensen's push lots of air at volume.
The tone was there at high volume and never felt like it didn't have guts to hang with any tube amp.

A buddy has the same one and loves it. It sounds great and keeps up with the band just fine in live situations. Usually John chimes in with feeling on the subject. I wonder how he feels about a modeler that is a half stack too? That has to be a double whammy! Either way can't wait to hear your personal review when you get it.

I practice at home with a Peavey Vypyr on a regular basis. Not sure I'd play in public with
it, but that's pure snobism. Modelers def. have their place...

Okay, I got the Mustang and I'm a bit embarrassed to tell you all this.... but it's going back.

It sounds no better than my Vetta. Yes, I know that I can tweak until doomsday with the Fender FUSE software, and yes, I think stuff like that is fun, and yes, I'm sure it has some good sounds in it.

But frankly, it still sounds very processed somehow. Several of the clean settings are really nice, but honestly, they're no nicer than what I can get on the Vetta. I'm also annoyed by the fact that I HAVE to use the FUSE software to get to the deeper settings, like cabinet emulations, pedal routing, and such. I've been a computer tech for several years, but it doesn't sit well with me that the deeper settings can ONLY be accessed that way. And there's one last thing I really don't like: I don't like having the knobs on top. If this were a combo that wouldn't be a problem, but it's a head and cabinet. Last night I sat the head on the floor so I wouldn't have to stand up to operate it.

So she's going back. And frankly, I still can't get the Marshall JVM410H off my brain. I would so love to actually get to plug into one and try it out. I can get a semi-organic sound out of the Vetta but it still doesn't have that "magic" of a Marshall 1960 cab.

I don't know what your budget is but if I was gonna try amp modeling I would probably give the line 6 dt50 combo a whirl paired with a pod hd500x. Kinda of a do it all system. Seen some vids and sparked my interest.
