I know I've been going ballistic on here about Splawn lately and I hope it hasn't been too annoying. But anyway, I thought I would share what sparked my interest in them.
I originally had the hots for a Marshall JVM and for several evenings I was watching YouTube videos about them. Then, based on some advice I got here, I also started checking out the JCM 2000 series. Then I started looking for comparison videos between the JVM and JCM 2000, and stumbled across this:
I had heard of Splawn and possibly seen used ones on occasion. One thing led to another and I became aware of the Quick Rod.
The JVM demos sounded great to me at first. I don't mean to disrespect Marshall, but after watching a few videos of the Quick Rod and other Splawn models, the Marshalls sound very fizzy/farty to me now. It's like there's no bottom end and very little clarity, which is amazing because I admired them for those very things as of two weeks ago.
