Maxon GE601 Reissue
Don't let the fact this pedal has only 6 bands throw you off, the GE601 is surprisingly good at a number of different roles. Depending on your needs it can go in front of your amp to boost your guitar signal or be used in the loop as a volume/level control. It gives you 12db's of control to cut or boost and a master level to manage your sound overall. It works nicely as a single coil pickup simulator or pull wah like tones from the treble without getting harsh and it shines when setup as a solo boost. The GE601 allows for a nice transition to a solo without a sudden smack in your face from a huge volume jump and that annoying "click" you hear from the pedal being activated. Its operation is smooth and quiet for the most part and it can add some coloration to your amp but you have to really turn up the levels to make that happen. The pedal is designed to be transparent so having it as a clean boost to fine tune your amp's tone will put a big smile on your face.
Pro's: Well made with seamless and smooth activation, doesn't add any noise or static to your rig, is surprisingly versatile, brings its own unique nuances and characteristics without coloring your sound, stands out as a solo boost and a clean boost, and fits in nicely with all of my amps.
Con's: It's only 6 bands, price tag is $159, hard to find in stores.
