I did consider the ACP-88 but the KT S1 has XLR's, and the DB25 looms on my Audient mic have XLR's too. The ACP is also more expensive.

I looked into getting an ACP-88 awhile back, but they don't have the greatest reliability record. From what I read, most stuff can be fixed fairly easily by opening up the units, but that's not something I wanna mess with. Also, compression quality is average.

I had never heard of the KT Square One until this thread. Looks like a cool compressor, but reviews seemed mixed as does reliability.

Researching the Square One lead me to find out about a couple nice, older, discontinued, 4 channel, 1U compressors. The KT DN504 & BSS DPR-404. I really like what I've read about the BSS DPR-404 and ended up finding and buying one tonight on Ebay.

I have not experienced this. The reviewer may have been using it incorrectly, or trying to use the same settings as on a completely different type of compressor (probably tube), rather than setting it up from scratch.
