I have worked towards downsizing my rig over the past few years. I'm down to a half stack (2 channel head, 4x12 and pedal board). I know thats not exactly small, but I can load in and out by myself, it's the best sounding rig I've ever had and it's sounds good in every room I've been in from big clubs to tiny bars. I can set up and tear down in 5/10 minutes. I use a 4x12 because I want to hear myself and a 2x12 or 1x12 on the floor doesn't cut it for me. I'm looking into maybe getting a Mark V and a vert 2x12 for convenience, but not to replace what I have. Kinda Just to have. I amy even consider a 1x12 Mark V on a stand. Fuck perception, fuck what people think. Play for the love of playing. If people dig it, cool. If not fuck it. Tone is mostly in the fingers IMO anyway. I played a multiple band show at Toads about a few years ago and there was this 3 piece band, all girls under the age of 16 doin originals. The guitar player was using a Fender Champ mic'd and a guitar chord that was so short it didn't even touch the ground. She brought it in a big way and they kicked ass. That put a lot into perspective for me. It was cool to watch.

I was at that show. It wasn't even a Fender Champ. It was a $99.00 Fender Frontman 15.
With that said... after A/B'ing all of my rigs.. (and I have a fair amount of amps and cabs!!), I settled on my new Marshall DSL100H through a vintage 90's Marshall 1960a Lead Cab with my Boss GT-8 in the effects loop for delay, chorus, and volume pedal for solo's and a Morley optical switchless wah out in front. I am using the stock Marshall 2 button switch for channel switching instead of the GT-8 which will also channel switch but it has a slight ground loop hum when using it that way. Its completely silent using the Marshall footswitch. It sounds great at any volume and it takes 5 minutes to set up.
