There is a 6505 212 combo at a local pawnshop here for $550. I love my Laney AOR but really wish it had switchable channels. I might see what kind of deal I can work out.

      Is there a big difference between a 6505 and a 6505+

6505+ has a much better clean channel and has separate EQ for the rhythm and lead channels. 6505 is a bit more raw/aggressive sounding with more emphasis on the low-mids. 6505+ is more than aggressive enough, but just a bit more refined and more of an upper mid focus. They can be dialed in to sound very similar. If cleans are important to you at all, then you want the 6505+.

The 6505+ is a monster of an amp. If you want to be heard live its the answer. Super articulate, an insane amount of gain, built like a tank so its VERY roadworthy and super simple to dial in. When playing through this amp you can tell that a TON of design, engineering and tone searching went into it. To my ears and fingers... the amp it sounds the closest to is the Soldano SLO100.

IMHO... it would be hard to find a rock or metal player who didn't like this amp. I know that tone is subjective but the 6505+ is one of those amps that 99% of rock and metal players would love.

I did get the 6505+ and I love it. Very easy to dial in. I haven't been able to get the post volume past 2 and I'm sure the tone will only improve with more volume. Extremely versatile and OMG loud.
