Like tinribs said, cleans are nice.
The clean channel sounds very nice with Stray type guitars with single coils and low output pups.
The dirty channel goes from crunch to pretty insane; usually run gain around 4-6
    Effects loop is great too.

That's where I like my gain too

Congrats, that seems to be the sweet spot for the amp.
Playing thru a 4x12 is great with this amp, really opens up the sound a lot, while still being quiet enough for late night jams.

I sold my 4x12 ages ago as I no longer had the space, I have a cheap laney 2x12 I use with it sometimes, that sounds ok, need a better cab though

I rolled a bunch of tubes in my amp, now running an RCA’s & GE’s. A 7025 tube in position 1 for a little more sizzle than a 12AX7. Haven’t tried recording using the direct out, so I don’t know if it sounds good or not yet. It’s a fun amp, we’re lucky they made them.

Get a 4x12 for it, you'll be glad you did.

That is great. I never used cleans until I got a strat. The 1W JVM I looked at was going for $500.

Very cool. Nice sounding little amp from clips I've heard.

For some reason I thought this thread was all about the DSL5C. So I bought one. Come back here and find it's about a JVM1

Oh well, should be a much more usable replacement for the HT20!

That's propper funny. How are you finding the DSL5C?

Haven't had a chance to really crank it, but so far, just having a little jam last night and trying to get some sounds using my Korg1500 pedal it's pretty awesome. Small enough that it'll fit in a small cupboard but big enough to sound fantastic. Looking forward to trying it out with a bit of volume at the weekend.
IMO it would have been cool if they'd added a button on the footswitch to go between the "tone shift"s - the scooped sound is good for metal, but the normal tone is better for leads.
