Anybody have any recent experience with one of these? I tried one at GC recently and at first I thought it was a modeling amp. Its EXTREMELY refined sounding and has an almost hi-fi quality to it. Not sure if it would work out in a live setting only because it sounds a lot like listening to a guitar amp that was recorded in the studio and played through full range hi-fi speakers. Still... pretty cool little package.

Anybody? I am surprised nobody here owns or has owned the Tubemeister 18 head. I couldn't turn the one I tried at GC up enough to get a feel for how it would sound live. What I like about it is the portability and the red box out. Since I had my heart attack and with my recent heart problems I am trying to downsize my live rig because its hard for me to carry anything heavy. I used my 6505+ combo at the gig last week and it sounded amazing (mic'd with a 57) but it was very difficult to transport and set it up. Its HEAVY. I have a chance to get one of these pretty cheap but I need to know if it cuts through live and doesn't disappear into the mix.Comment

Spent about a half hour with one. Found it sterile and stiff. Not a very "musical" amp. Tired of it immediately.Comment

I picked up a TM18 when they were on sale a couple years ago. The clean channel is great, but I didn't like the drive channel at all. I don't use a clean channel often enough to care about it, so I use a JCA22H and love it. It's actually gotten more gig time than my Peavey 6534+ over the past couple of years.Comment
