Amp Channel Switcher and Effects Switcher in One?

I would like to eliminate long effects loop cable runs and have single button presses for effects and amp channel switching. Does anyone make this in one rackmount unit? Also, would need the same unit to switch before amp effects and effects in the loop. My primary amp is an EVH 5150 III 100 watt (no midi) so I get that there would be a special cable to achieve the amp switching.
I am trying to keep my floor mount wireless, tuner, wah and volume out front but have the before amp and effects loop pedals back at the amp. I have a midi board that I can use for the patch switching.

Also, not looking to spend $1,000 to do this.

I don't own an FX8, but I believe it does amp channels.
I don't know if they make a rack version, and it is over $1000. However, at least we know it exists.

I did a little more research and so far it looks like it would take two units. Thanks for the FX8 suggestion, I will check into it...maybe find a used one?

FX8 isn't that much cheaper used generally. They are pretty new and fractal items hold their value pretty well. For good reason. The Helix can also do this but it is in the same category as the FX8. You might check out the gear page for other 4CM methods.

I don't think that Fractals hold their value, I just see a bunch of people listing them at extremely high prices because they are snobs that think their shit don't stink.
I did not know that the Helix could do amp switching. So, really, the Helix has amp models, the FX8 does not - why bother with the FX8.

Big Al, are you looking for an effects unit that can switch non-midi amp channels? A secondhand TCE G-System will be cheaper than the FX8 or Helix & has topnotch effects. It can serve as a floor controller and you can rack mount the brain.

The G Major can also do latch switching & is way cheap now.

If your midi controller is an FCB1010, it has relay switches, although you'll have to run two cables - one midi, one to change amp channels. But it can be programmed to change FX & channels with a single click.

Or are you after something to switch amp channels (non-midi) with your existing effects? A lot of guys talk up the RJM rack gizmo for that. Or you could check out the Voodoo Labs GCX/Ground Control

Correct, but I don't see them selling (I don't use eBay). I see them listed, and re-listed.
Which is no different than anything else. The publicly listed price is different than the email price that goes on in private.

I use a Boss GT10, the other guitar player in my band uses a Boss GT10 and my best bud who is in a few VERY popular local metal bands uses a Boss GT100.
I will tell you what we use them for (I programmed all of them).

Channel switching the amp, effects both PRE and POST preamp (basically you can drag the effects around using the 4 cable method so that you can have a wah and distortion boxes out in front and all your time based effects in the loop. I also have the onboard pedal set up as a volume boost and a wah with a slight volume boost.

These systems work flawlessly with little to no coloration. Its very nice to have all the effects you could ever want, channel switching the amp, noise gates and a tuner.

The only thing you won't be able to do is switch channels on your amp AND simultaneously switch effects. That's a job for a midi switcher and since your amp isn't midi you won't be able to pull it off.

On a side note.... I don't see any benefit of getting the GT100 over the GT10. If you wanted to go even cheaper you could go with the GT8 which works fine also.

No law against it, so why the hostility? If the only places to get them are new at full price and used for only a couple of hundred below new price, then those are the options. No one is obligated to sell used gear for 1/3rd what they paid, or even half. Since the used market isn't flooded with them, interested buyers have no "I can get one cheaper at xxx", therefore it's a seller's market; "I got it, you want it, you pay xx price for it, or you can buy a new one. Or wait for a crackhead deal."

I think a TCE G-Major can fill your need. I have used one in my rack since 2001. I had it connected to a Peavey Rockmaster preamp - via 1/4 inch stereo cable to the RM f/s input. FX patches and channel switching were done with a Midi footcontroller and one midi cable to the G-Major. Simple.
Today, an EVH 5150 III 50-watt is in the rack with the G-Major hooked up via Midi. My floor unit is still the same midi controller and one midi cable. Still simple.

On reverb I had an axe fx sold within five hours with six offers. By far the fastest thing. I think the fractal stuff sells pretty well imho. I turned enough profit from what I bought at to cover fees so technically a wash but you get the picture


In regards to the helix those are new and are holding their value too. The helix is basically function wise the ax8 and the fx8. The ax8 is the same cost as the fx I think maybe a hundred more but the ax doesn't have amp switching. The helix has their bases covered really well but most prefer fractal's algorythms. Splitting hairs I think. My main issue with the axe was all the damn options. They were all really good I couldn't settle for anything. I have an issue with set it and forget it. I need a group to help me with it.

Thanks for the link, it was not until I saw the routing diagram for the GCX that it finally dawned on me that it did have a section for "amp in" and effects loop. Not sure how the amp channel switching works for a three channel amp. That is were I am having an issue going from 1/4" outs to one multi-pin connector. Still, an Amp Gizmo and the GCX gets me in my budget.
