    Audio Interface for PC plug and play with software?

    Tax return time... recently sold my tube amp and cab... now just have my first ever amp... Peavey backstage plus.

    So for the last three days been looking at audio interface for PC and software... what a messy rabbit hole that is.

    Seriously what a mess... bla bla bla latency this driver that connectivity puke.

    Think I'll just have to go old school and buy a cheap metal zone knock from behringer...

    Couldn't find a nice and easy plug and play... why oh why?

    So far top of the list is this cheap thing Behringer Guitar Link UCG102 USB Interface with amplitube 3?

    Seriously not trying to pro record anything, terrible guitar player just looking for excuse to get the dam guitar out of the case.

    Presonus Audiobox is pretty cheap and comes bundled with their excellent Studio One software. Phantom power, record two mic or instrument channels at once. You can also buy it in a bundle with headphones & mic, I believe. Studio One comes bundled with a free version of Guitar Rig, so you'll have a few amps & fx to fool around with to get started

    If you pick up an interface without software, Reaper is very good, easy to use, endless channels available & cheap/free (full functionality if free, but you will be prompted on startup to consider buying it)

      I have active pickups... have a feeling that might cause some issues with interface.

          You could just go with a used POD XT (or something like it) cheap. Tons of amp models and FX and it's a built in interface. Then just download Reaper for the recording and you're set.

            My buddy had a rocksmith xbox guitar cable not being used, 1/4 to usb, downloaded guitar rig 5, ASIOall drivers and bam worked like a charm. Endless amps and effects on my PC.

            Little tweaking with settings and what not but pretty easy to setup... didn't even spend 1 dollar lol.

            They want $70 for guitar rig 5... hmm awesome program but no thanks... any suggestions on other free or demo type modeling software?

              If you think interfaces are a big nasty rabbit hole, wait till you research amp sims and speaker Ir's...


              Before you pull your hair out with that shit,, start here and try these,,also check out the side links to AcmeBarGig, Nick Crow Lab, etc,,, all the free chunk you need

                  I have a Blackstar Core ID Stereo 10 as my computerside amp.
                  It hooks up to the computer with a USB and then the Blackstar Insider software has a tuner in and enables you to change the patches and adjust stuff.
                  I believe it can output to your recording software via the USB.
                  The only issue I've had with it so far is that on the high gain settings the noise gate seems a bit keen, and as far as I can find you can't switch it off...
