Thoughts on a Yamaha THR10 vs. THR10X

I've been looking around for a small practice amp and I've seen some reviews online on the THR10 and THR10X amps. Looks like a couple guys here have had these amps over the years. Was wondering if anyone has played the 10 and 10X side by side, or has owned both of them, to give me an idea how they compare. Is the 10 more versatile while the 10X is primarily a "metal" amp? I currently have a Spider Line 6 IV 15 watt that I use when watching tv. Just looking for something new to toy around with.

The THR's are decent little amps. My favorite thing about them is that you can run them off batteries, which is good for beach, camping, etc.

I have the 10c and haven't tried the other models. I probably would have been happier with a 10 or 10x. The 10c is more about cleans and edge of breakup tones.

They are both great amps.
I have the 10. I intend to get a 10X eventually.
But since i like to play so many different styles and sounds I got the 10 because it is well rounded.
I have actually gigged mine to try it out. I tend to use just a wah and booster pedal like a Plimsoul, and use my volume for cleaning up.
It takes front end pedals like a champ. I used it direct into a PA with in-ears and a wedge. It has cred.
Love the amp a lot.
It "IS" a practice amp. And a USB direct recording amp that has a great feel.
Wish they has a channel switching version with a balanced/unbalanced out for gigging. But there are ways around that.
10X is amazing also. But the 10 is much more versatile for a mix of styles.
They need to make a model with both 10 and 10X sounds with my requested upgrades.

10x for high gain, 10c for more classic tones.

You really can't go wrong with either, but if you're more metal minded, you'll probably want the X.

I have the X and it's pretty f-ing cool. I don't nearly utilize all it's capabilities but it's super light, portable and sounds great for metal and hard rock. It even has a decent Southern Rock setting. Cleans up pretty nicely, too. Where the fuck was this thing when I was starting out? I would've sounded awesome doing the endless AC/DC tunes I used to play back then....

can't comment about the X but my THR5 is the best piece of gear I bought in the past 2 years. Really love the small amp.

Thanks for the comments guys and for the video Vector. Looks like I'll keep an eye out for a 10X - should be a fun little amp.
