The more I play it, the more I like. It's not perfect but it covers, in one amp, what I like about many amps. I'll try to do a few more decent clips in the coming days.
It's quite loud too. Played with my son on drums and I was cutting over his loud playing without any issues and I was plugged into the Mesa 1x12.
The direct USB recording retains the "Boss tonal characteristics" of my old Boss GT-8 line which isn't bad but it's not a Fractal nor Helix.Comment

Just did another quick clip. Everything done with the Boss Katana Head USB going direct into Reaper. It's a melting pot: I tried humbuckers, singles, bridge, neck... Crunch... T-wah... Treble booster (love it)... Heavy distortion... Even the bass was into the Katana (and I'm no bass player :p ) I f**ked the ending of the tune but who cares! Just had a lot of fun doing this.
As I said, it won't replace your Kemper/Helix/Fractal but it's ok for a quick quiet demo. It sounds even better on top of a speaker and I will have to give it a shot at recording it with a mic sooner or later.Comment

Will have to try. My "metal" inspiration these days is quite low... lol... But from my few days of experience with the amp, it will satisfy any player from clean to crunch to 80s distortion style, but for super gainy heavy sound, I'm not sure yet.Comment

My musician soulmate (we are in two bands together and both gear whores) played this at his teaching facility. One of the other instructors had gotten one and he couldn't praise it enough. I got to try one out in the store and I am damn impressed. Sounds way better than a spider to me. That's the fair comparison too not the axefx.I keep the bible in a pool of blood

Yep the JS30KV I got in a trade for a pedal. I put a Zakk Wylde EMG kit in it just for fun! It sounds very good. Next mod would be better tuning machines but for now, I'm quite happy with it.Originally posted by Number Of The Priest View PostKiller!

I had a "home alone no wife no kids PM" today. So I pulled out all the speakers I had: Organic Timbre Rhapsody (the one in the video), Celestion 70-80, Celestion V30, Eminence Delta Pro-12A and Peavey XXX. I installed them in Mini Rectifier Cab and recorded the same riffs or chords for all of them, I even did the 5" internal speaker of the Katana head. I hope to make a video of all of these sooner or later. But my admiration goes to those who make those video "montage" on youtube. I took me so much time to make it look good when I worked on it today.
