Here is another attempt at going direct with USB. Will do a comaprison with my Yamaha THR5 and will also do the same clip but with the Katana + mic.

Would have to do the "phones output" and would have done the 4 ways of recording this amp... If you look at my Youtube page, I've started doing the same with my Yamah a THR5. Hope to complete the speaker+SM57 recording this afternoon.

Default is serie but if you use the software from Boss you can control the amp via USB and switch it to parallel.

Someone managed to find "hidden" amps in the Boss Katana (there would be like 25 more amps built-in amps in the Katana). Had to record the Rectifier model and trying to steal some "Liquid Tension Experiment" riffs... I still have to practice... Humble take here:

For now, I have only tried the USB output and recording with a mic. I tested my amp with phones for silent recording and the sound is quite similar to the USB output.

To my ears, it's the weakest point of the amp. The headphones out and USB output don't sound better than what I could do with my old Boss GT8. It's not bad but it could have way better. I'm working on another video at the moment in which I'm playing the same very short riff but with all the outputs to compare them. I'll even try with an impulse response (IR) with the signal coming from the "Send" output. In the meantime, these are my USB output clips:

Here we go, I recorded all outputs of my Katana amp. Picked a low-gain preset as these are usually the most difficult to give a decent sound when going direct. Let me know what you think.
