Picked this up just to have 20 watt tube amp with an EX loop to run in my rack.
Sounds really nice with the Soldano deep circuit switch.
Very vintage voiced and tons of bottom end.

Does it sound good at lower volumes or do you have to juice it up to get it really singing?

These have less gain than the regular JCA's so you have to crank the gain pretty hard.
With the gain on 5 or 6 and the master vol on 1 it sings at low volume.
Push the vol up to 4 and it barks with authority.Past 6 I wouldn't want to be in the same room with it. LOL
I stuffed it in my rack and hooked up my Jackson JX3 pre amp and intellifex processor and really happy with it.
I can cut the amp gain down and bring the vol up and use the tube drive of the JX 3 which has a shit load of overdrive.
Sounds killer thru 2 4X12 Marshalls.
Its not the end all of 20 watt inexpensive heads but it does what I want it to do and it does it well.
