  • Question about 4-cable method

I'm running my Boss GT-100 in 4-cable method. If I wanted to add an additional effect, would it go....

    1. Between guitar and GT-100

    -or-

    2. Between the GT-100 and the front of the amp

Depends on where you want that effect in your signal chain.
    1. Between guitar and GT input
    2. Between GT loop send and amp input
    3. Between amp loop send and GT loop return
4 Between GT output and amp loop return.

If you use 1 or 4 effect will be available all the time.
In 2 and 3 the effect will only be available if you are using your amp's preamp (GT loop in 4CM config).

Perfect. Thanks. I'll probably go with Option #2 because I want to drive the front of the amp.

Curious what you are adding to the already full featured GT-100?

Believe it or not, I'm going to play with a distortion pedal to try and capture a certain type of "bite."

What distortion you want to add? I thought the GT-100 had a fairly good distortion algorithm.

It's a Digitech Hardwire Valve Distortion. I like it on its own and it doesn't sound bad with the GT-100, but it also really doesn't add anything of significance.
