I have one. Its the model that has the 2 volume controls in the front. One left and one right. I am using it with a Marshall JMP1 preamp and into a Marshall 1960A 4 x 12 cab in stereo mode.
Here is what I don't get.....
I love reading reviews online. Especially from good music forums. The overwhelming review of the Velocity 100 is its great for home use or small shows but for large shows its underpowered. Then... the threads start popping up about tube power amps and 300 watt power amps etc...
I have a Carvin DCM1000S which is 500 watts per side stereo. Yea... its powerful but its not 3 times louder than the Velocity 100. Not even close. I would say at full volume it might be 10% louder.
Anyway... let me get to my point..
I play in a VERY loud 80's metal band. We rehearse entirely too loud. When we play large shows everything is mic'd. Sometimes we do small shows and we only use the PA for vocals and keyboards.
What I find with my Velocity 100 1RMS Solid State power amp is it has plenty of power for any size show. With my band.. not mic'd, through my 4 x 12 cab I have the left and right volumes on 4 and the JMP1 master volume on 5. That's REALLY loud and perfect to keep up with my very loud metal band live. I think what many people experience is not that the Velocity 100 is underpowered but rather... they aren't using an efficient speaker system or preamp.
