  • Hughes and Kettner TriAmp MK II

Has anyone played on one of these? I know they are very rare in the US at this point, but I was wondering if anyone has laid any hands one on, because I am saving up for one this summer.
If you have played one, please tell me what you thought of it.

I haven't played one personally, but I was just at NAMM and a guy demo'd it for me. For the price of the amp vs. other amps in its class, it sounds like you get a LOT of amp for what you pay. They had it paired with a 4x12. Very cool leads, nice heavy chunky rhythm. Seeing as it's basically sort-of 6 amps in one (3 channels, each channel has 2 gain vocings) it's a great value.

The guy also demo'd the Duotone a little bit, after I'd asked him what it was like. Exactly as he said, it didn't get as gainy or thrashy sounding as the TriAmp to me.

Since I see another high-dollar amp post, I'll comment on those over there, too...
