  • Evolution vs EMG 81

I want to put a better pick up in my old Charvel Rhoads. I`m looking for a brutal, full and articulated sound. What would be better Di Marzio Evolution or EMG 81?
My current Duncan is not giving enough sustain.......

I prefer EMGs, but I like the sound of the 85 better in the bridge over the 81. The 85 has a little more mids and sounds fuller to me. Two of my Jacksons have EMGs, one the 81/85 combo and the other has the 85/60 combo. I very much prefer the 85/60.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

          good example - les paul=81/85 (or 81/81 for a bluesier tone) SG=85/85

charvels and jackson's made from alder i prefer 81b/85n

had some Ibeenhad's steve vai (the same as Word's vai) and I prefer the EMG for the higher output and the masses of sustain =)

the evolutions are more mid pickups and to my ears a bit sloppy, but that's a matter of taste really...
