  • Boss Octave pedal

the octave pedal puts out a tone one and two octaves lower than the original as well as the original, right? yeah, and all three tones have their own volume knob so what i was wondering was if you have the pedal and mute the third tone so you just have the original and one octave lower at the same time, theoretically it should sound like the guitar is tuned down 4 steps or basically sound like a baritone, right? or will this only work in theory?

One thing I can tell you about it is that it doesn't track the notes very fast. If you were to play anything fast, it gets behind and it sounds very sterile and weird sounding.

Mine tracks fine when playing fast, but it really starts to get jumpy when you mix in some bent notes. When you turn down the main signal, you are left with a signal an octave lower, but it isn't very musical by itself. So if you're looking for a bass sound, get a bass.
