• What's a good small practice amp?

I need to get a new small practice amp. I used to have a Tech 21 Trademark 10, which was great, but I sold it and now regret it. Before I get another TM10, I'd like to get opinions on what else is out there.

The TM10 was small with an 8" speaker but loud enough to play at rehearsals and really light. It sounded good plugged straight in, but also had an fx loop for my rack at rehearsals.

What else is out there, from any other company, tube or ss, that meets the requirements of being small, light, loud if necessary.

Thanx,
Peter

I've been through a bunch of 'em - many tube and solid state and digital amps over many years, including the Yamaha DG stuff, Crate and Peavey practice amps, a Kendrick 108 and a vintage Fender Champ - and the only one I found that met all my needs is my Trademark 10. Just get another one

I agree with Word. Crate makes some really decent practice amps. I'm not a solid state person but I do like my little Crate GFX15. Has an 8-inch speaker and digital effects which are okay.

The Marshall micro stacks aren't bad, either. I have one from about 1987 in red when they were still made in England. I think now though that they are made in China.

I've never heard a Trademark 10, so I can't say anything about that.

I actually have a Peavey Bandit, as well as Tech 21 Power Engines and a Marshall stack. All of them are bigger than I really want. Maybe I'll check out the Crates and smaller Peaveys. Time to hit GC or SA.

Check out the newer Roland "Cube" models. I played a couple of those a few months back, and I couldn't believe the sound I was getting. I'm actually tempted to go back and pick one up when I have some spare cash.

Yeah crate makes some good decent sounding practice amps. Ofcourse I'd have to put in a word for Marshall. But just for a lil fairly cheap price just for practice you probably would like a crate.

the smokey is a clear (or coloured see through) plastic cell phone size amp with an input and an out put jack on the bottom and a 2 inch speaker. i think it takes a 9v battery. can't remember.

they were like 20 bucks or so.

Smokey guitar amps look cool!! They were actually made from old cigarette packs. Check 'em out. http://www.axemusic.com/products/gui...guitar_amp.htm
