• Fulltone screwed me!!!

I went and spent $200 on a Fulltone distortion pro (DP-1) based on the claims on their website.I've had this pedal for 2 weeks and all I get is mud tones from it....worst pedal i've ever heard. I went back on their website and saw that they had a free upgrade for that pedal for people that were'nt satisfied with the original and to email them for an authorization form.I emailed them and told them how dissatisfied I was with their product and all I got was a nasty email from them stating that,in other words, that they offer the upgrade to fix their product on their option and in order for me to get one I must ask them in a better way then I did.All I did was explain to them how dissatisfied I was with their very expensive pedal and how their claims on its performance were'nt true. That was the worst customer service i've ever seen....and it was the owner of the company that sent me the email. STAY AWAY FROM THESE CLOWNS!!! They could care less about their customers! My $40 Boss DS-1 blows their $200 DP-1 away. I guess I learned my lesson. Don't buy Fulltone products and expect any customer service from them. Their DP-1 is garbage!

Is it allowed for you to post your email to them, and their reply?

Unless something has changed around here, posting private emails is not allowed. In general, on the net it's considered bad etiquette to post emails.

Fulltone has a good reputation, and all of their pedals I've ever tried are good. I've talked to Mike in person before and he seemed like a decent guy, but it doesn't necessarily suprise me that he took it more personally than a big corporation would.

I'd suck it up and ask again, nicely, for
the free upgrade. There might be a defect in yours that is hurting the sound, which might be found when they install the upgrade.

Rstiles is right; Fulltone has a great rep among users of high-end pedals. Your
saying they suck is not likely to affect them one bit, wheras if you suck it up and apologize, you may get back a pedal you like instead of being out $200.

Re: Fulltone screwed me!!!

I have a FullDrive II, and every pedal I've seen/heard from Fulltone was a great sounding and built piece of equipment.

Michael Fuller is the owner, and he is opinionated and if you check on deja, you'll see him spatting here and there with internet folk.

I would guess your original email to them was a bit rude, and so they turned it up a notch. With it being a small company, you got right to the owner more than likely.

You do know that those pedals have internal trimpots and have to be tweaked a bit for different guitars/amps/players, right? They have a ton of controls, and if you were figuring on it being a sonic flamethrower right out of the box I could see your disapointment.

I'd rephrase my email with a lot more asking, and a lot less bi*ching.

Mike makes great pedals, but he's got ZERO tollerance for whiney horse-****... You treat him with respect and he'll respond with respect. I don't believe he would jump down your throat if you just "explain to them how dissatisfied I was with their very expensive pedal and how their claims on its performance were'nt true" [sic]. If you come off like a loud-mouth punk jerk with him, he's going to close the door on you and hard. I've dealt with Fulltone extensively, and some of the best customer service I've ever had in my life has been courtesy of Mike Fuller. Of course, I never told him he was a liar that made crappy pedals, either.

A $6000 Bradshaw rack through a Peavey Rage will not sound like a $6000 Bradshaw rack through a 300W 4x12 cabinet - it will sound like $6000 thrown out an open window of a moving vehicle.
Don't expect a $200 pedal to make a crappy amp sound better. Don't even expect it to make a crappy amp sound good.

I disagree with all you guys who defend Fulltone. C'mon guys, unless Ken tore him an a$$hole...No, even if he did, NEVER should a respectable business reply like that. I don't care if the guy doesn't put up with sh!t Thats his job man! What he should do is hire someone to handle his customer services.

"Michael Fuller is the owner, and he is opinionated and if you check on deja, you'll see him spatting here and there with internet folk.

Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one but it doesn't mean you have to show it. It was a e-mail reply for God sake. You would think he would have enough sense to calm down if he was offended.

That just cracks me up that the guy would ask his customer to kiss his a$$!

Ken if you were somewhat diplomatic and entirely honest with him, I'd e-mail him and demand the up grade. Obviously he has an upgrade for a reason. He's just being a baby cuz there are some dissatisfied customers. He should be the one sucking it up!

Obviously the guy has a reputable business so who am I to say, but it's sad that consumers put up with that just cuz the guy has this "Take no sh!t" rep. JMMHOBO.

Turns out my pedal is defective and the owner of the shop where I bought it has had numerous complaints on how Mr. Fuller treats his customers. He is going to handle Fuller. My amp aint cheap either...Peavey Triple X thru 2 Genz Benz 4x12 cabs. When you engage the pedal this loud popping noise can be heard, also the pedal sounds horrible.Thats why Fuller has the upgrade kit...to fix all the pre-2003 units. Mine was manufactured 6/02.When I shell out $200 for a distortion box I expect something I atleast can work with. My $40 Boss DS-1 blows the Fulltone out of the water....after the upgrade who knows.
