how much of an upgrade would that be compared to my rocktron replifex? is the quality of the effects any good? is it silent enough?

As a G-Major user, I will say that the unit is the best sounding box you can buy for under grand - and actually sounds better than some of those, IMO.
Mine's dead quiet - especially compared to the Quad I had before it - and it has a pretty good noise gate in it. I was thinking about using the Replifex - which is the only Rocktron unit I like - but the G-Major sounds a lot better, to my ears, and the amount of tone coloration from the D/A/A/D is minimal.
I can't recommend this unit enough.
