5150 Sound Question

My question is:
Is it just my cab, or do all 5150's sound worse when there cranked? i think it could be because i'm playing through a Marshall MG412 (Cheapo) cab. I just want to be sure before i go out and blow money on a new cab....Thanks!

your cab sucks man. I'd suggest a 5150 cab for that thar 5150 head. I think that's what most everyone else will tell you as well. Maybe the 5150 just doesn't contain the tone you are after anyway?

Well, you could be right on that. I LOVE the gain on it though. It reminds me SO much of ozzy's tribute to randy album sound. but, im thinking about a JC-120 with a tube rackmount preamp with something that sounds like my 5150 gain (any suggestions?). The JC-120 just seems more practicle to me...

Why don't you just use an A/B box with the 5150 and the Jazz Chorus...set the JC up for clean, the 5150 up for distortion tones.
