ENGL 580 midi preamp. price?

Anybody had the chance to give this baby a whirl. And perhaps taken a gander at its selling price? I'm sure its an arm and a leg. How does it compare to the other high end preamps?

I'm too poor to get one, but I"m still interested in it.

I spoke with an ENGL dealer out here in So Cal about the 580 and the out the door price was $2,200+! I've tried the 530 single space preamp and that sounded cool ($400-$500), but I can't see the 580 being all THAT much better even with all of the extra MIDI features ...
