pete, I would love to have a 4x12, but the speakers in my VHT are Celestion Classic lead 80`s, they are some rockin speakers and the Madison is for bottom end, but a 4x12 once in a while would be nice. Jack.

BTW, that Single Recto you sold my singer is the best sounding Recto I've ever played. I have a good friend with a keen ear for tone who I bounce ideas and tweaks off of (and always learn something from him), and I totally fooled him with that Single Recto. It was a blind Test and he honest to god thought it was the SLO! Let me tell you, THAT got my gears turning!.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I spent a few weeks trying all sorts of tubes in that single recto, and ended up with what I sent. The 5881 TungSols made a HUGE difference in the amp imho... made it warmer and just gave it a bigger sound without any high-end buzz in the tone.

That Egnater TOL I have now sounds better imho - the guys in my band agree too, and they thought I was NUTS to sell that recto! BTW, they preferred the Recto (after I tweaked the tubes) over the VHT 50CL I had.

Well , im picking it up tonight to borrow it . Im gonna try venomboy's way around the muddyness and use my 31 band MXR EQ. If it is good then i will use it as a back up if not i will buy and sell it.

Oh yeah and one more thing . Pete ( if i may call you pete [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] ) What is the best tubes for me to use on my VHT UL , because when i go to change the tubes i want it to sound the best.

Anywhoo, I had good luck with EH12ax7s in my VHT. Low noise, and nice tones. And cheap. Can't beat that. Power tubes... what's your UL run?

Personally, I found the XXX to nasaly for my tastes although it WAS VERY high gain! IT was obvious to me they tried REAL hard to get the Mesa tone and got close too.

XXL's are super nice to! They just don't breath enough for me at high volume levels.
