  • My new Engl Savage Special Edition.

I just got an Engl Savage Special Edition that I traded a Line6 Flextone HD and an Ibanez RG570 for.
Holy ****, what an amazing amp!! This sucker is the king of tone. Period.
Anybody else have one of these?
I've got a couple questions about some of the settings and connections. <I did also get the Z-10 foot controller with it>

Sounds like you did very well on the trade there. I've been extremely curious about these, but haven't tried any of the Engl heads yet (played a preamp years ago). Any chance of pics or some clips of it?

I have the "regular" Savage 120.. dunno if the settings would be similar, but ENGL stuff does rock, eh?
        Did you get the interface?

I'll take some pics of it tonight when I get home and then I'll surely be recording it a little and put some clips online.
It's a TONE MONSTER!! Man, I thought I was in love with my Line6, but this is a different world.
It looks bad ass and sounds better!!
I did get the Z-10 footcontroller with it...

I haven't messed with putting anything into the FX loops yet, but then again, I did just get it last night then had band practice, which sounded better than ever.

So what's the difference in the Savage and the Savage Special Edition? What are the treble balance controls for? That's something I don't recognize.

                  Looks nice,

                  Ross

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I've got a good line to buy an Engl Savage SE. It would make a nice brother to
my Ritchie Blackmore Sig. But I sort of want to buy a custom strat done up like
Uli Jon Roth's 24 fret scalloped neck strat

This is my dilemma: I just bought a fancy dancy custom neck-thru superstrat
                    recently.

So for what do I go? The Engl? A custom strat? Recording gear?

I'm thinking of GMW for my Uli-caster. Any other suggestions?

Re: My new Engl Savage Special Edition.

Main difference between Savage and Savage SE is power tubes:
2x kt88(I think) in Savage and 4x 6L6 in SE.
Don`t remember exactly - this explained in manuals in download section of ENGL site.

Everybody that has a chance to, should definately get one of these heads, it totally destroys any other amp I've ever plugged into.
I can't find anything to come close.

I'd suggest that there's a typo there somewhere. 120 W out of a pair of 6550s ain't gonna happen. I assume they meant 4 6550s (or two pairs). FYI, 6550s and KT-88s are interchangeable and very similar tubes.

                              Manual for e610 says:
                              V7,V8 ->kt88 matched sets...
(only 2 of them, not 4)
