Matched sets= 2 sets of tubes (2 pairs=4 tubes). Like rstites said...you'd need 4 KT's or 6550's for a 120W amp.

The Savage 120 has only 2 6550's I'm lookin at em right now. The GRoove Tibes site says 6550s can do better than 50 watts a piece.

        6550s are 60watt tubes ( 2 X 60 = 120watts (or am I crazy?))

Well, after further investigation, it does appear that Engl is claiming 120 W from a pair of 6550s. They appear to have gone to the Peavey school of power rating. :lol In theory, you can get 100 W out of a pair of 6550s in certain ideal circumstances. In real situations, to get anything near that claimed 120 W rating, you're going to measure some significant THD which most companies don't do for their power amps. Usually those are measured relatively clean.

That does in fact make sense...I was thinking about a true dual channel stereo amp (which would need 2 6550's per channel)...my bad. Makes sense to me.
