Does the american market Mesa 20/20 power amp only accept ~110V mains?

*looking at my baby*...

It says "wired for 117 volts"... no switches or anything... it seems you are out of luck there.

Oh heck! How much did you pay for yours? Got it of off eBay?

Guess i'll have to look into those 110V-220V converters...

Will the 20/20 work in Australia? I have no idea what the voltage or whatever is.

Aaron: No, the 20/20 is not Kangaroo-proof I think..

Jackson1: I will let you check the average prices by yourself.. I got mine off ebay but the seller is a fellow forum member... I paid about the average price for it (very difficult to find "deals" on these).

Mesa 20/20 price

I can tell you in advance that this thing is the BEST sounding power amp I have ever put my hands on... I don't have a preamp now and I am just plugging the guitar direct into it... I love that sound just like that!... the thing does color the tone a lot but in a very positive way IMO... this is one of the purchses that has made me the happiest in my life.. I run out of words here...

I have heard some people say that the EL84 powered peavey classic power amps have a tone that is close to the 20/20.. I am very curious about that...

aaron, you can get a step down converter put in it...North coast guitars have boogies, all with step down converters, since they're all imports.
cheers

Rod, thanks for your input. I checked out the Peavey 50/50 on the net and newsgroups and the like and people really dig it. Best part is that it's available around here used and for small money as well. Actually REAL cheap. Mesa 20/20 is no where to be found around here. Hmm... search is on.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I have already posted clips with my 20/20... look here:

20/20

A power amp is only the amp section of a setup so it is pretty straight forward. The 20/20 is stereo so it has two inputs and two outputs. In the front panel you find one volume and a presence knob for each channel. You just take the mono or stereo output from your preamp/affects into the power amp and the the output of the power amp into your cabinet and rock. That's about it.

The 20/20 has 7 tubes in it. 4 of them are EL84's, which are small power tubes that run very hot and color the sound a lot. The 3 other tubes are preamp tubes. Two of these are phase inveters and the other one is a buffer.

I have heard that 20/20s sound great with eletro-harmonix tubes but mine has chinese in it (Mesa)...

yeah... if I were you I would try that first.. you might be happy with it and better off... some peoople might kill me but I think the tube type makes more difference in power amps than the brand... give the peavey a chance...
