  • Mesa Boogie Mark IV top

    Hi

I have the option to buy one of these. I have heard lots of praise about this amp, though I am not totally familiar with it. I know that it has no real ultra metal gain, but it can be modded or I could use a tubescreamer with it.

I generally play blackmetal and I live in Europe for what it's worth.

can anyone tell me if this amp is suitable for the task or not?

the answer is yes and no. yes it can handle anything and no it is not easy to dial in a tone. IMO there are too many options to chose from to start with. then there are so many ways to approch the gain with all the gain stages availible. you'd be better off with a rectifier. much easier to dial in. also, i don't know if they put in european transformers in there export models or not. i hope they would but i live in the land of 110 so you'd have to look into that. but i hear from some of my friends that toured over there that amps run so much cleaner on 220. lots more head room. if i were you'd just get a marshall, and save myself all the hassle. dsl tsl, 900, 2000- any of them will do, but you'd probably want a 2000 or later series for kiss makeup metal hehhehheh. don't forget to run around in the woods with a witches hat and tourch. hehhehhehhe j/k. i like immortal too.
