  • Mesa boogie studio preamp!!!

    I remember this baby!
    And know it has a lot to offer although is not really new!

    I know it has no midi funtion which is quite bad for live performance's!

    What would like to know iscan it be controlled by another unit!
    let say a multiefect?

    Anyone with the experiences?

    And as always pro's and con's on this baby by everyone, please!

    Well, to start wiht multi-fx the Rocktron Replifex can do it...and so can the TC G-Major. The Studio only has two controljacks, right? The Behringer FCB1010 MIDI-floorboard can also control it. And then of course any MIDI-controlled loopsystem can do it, as well as all the products specially designed for MIDI-switching gear not equipped with MIDI...Axess Electronics, for example.

      My impression os that the Carvin Quad X (everyone around here seems to own one) blows the Mesa away adn is much cheaper... also the Carvin is Midi (the newer version).

      I think the main difference is the amount of gain you can get from the Carvin and the features... that is a NICE preamp my friend.

      However, like I said before, after trying and trying gear I think the Peavey Tubefex is the holy grail for 80's rock...
