There's usually no real difference in 1/4" jack footswitches. If the footswitch controls two different things, then you'll need a stereo jack with two switches.
If the footswitch only controls one thing, then a mono jack will work. I've built a few custom footswitches, the best ones in my opinion have jacks on the pedal so you can use a regular guitar cable. First pedal like that I ever saw was a boogie, and I don't think they do it anymore, but it was a great idea in my opinion.
Speaking of that, Pete, I lost the channel switcher to my Marshall 4210 long ago, and would like to make a home-made one. Where is that website that gives detailed directions with pics?
(BTW it was a dual switch pedal, Channel Switch & Reverb On/Off)
