Re: Preamps?
Bill,
HAHAHA!! Lawdy, man, that's some funny stuff, but damn sad, too. I dunno what I'd do if I'd have bought something that just completely blew up or...melted? That's some freaky stuff...hehe.
I first got into guitars in the mid-80s. I'm originally from a BFNowhere little town in South Carolina. Definitely know the thing where the guitar store had nothing but Fender, Gibson, and Marshall. Once I started driving, I found some better stores with the kicka$$ 80s custom painted Jacksons and ESPs, but when you're 16 you get to drool and that's about it hehehe. Crazy thing was, I always wanted to come to California and see all these cool guitar stores I read about, and I move out to CA, and there's hardly nothing now but Guitar Centers with generic crapola from Korea! Aye yi yi...
I WANTED so bad several years ago to get into guitar heads. But, yaknow, that stuff just didn't hack what I wanted at all high-gain-wise, being a home-player. Unless you can crank the things (or maybe have the attenuators?), those things just didn't seem to hack it for home use. They're getting better now, it seems. I played the Diezel amps and the Herbert sounded and felt great at even the lowest volumes. Awesome amp, with an awesome pricetag. Damn, I don't even think my whole rack cost me as much as that head. Err...scratch that...maybe it did...now I feel kinda sick...hehehe...
