It´s soon my birtgday and I only have a luve rig and no small bedroom rig. Do you guys have any ideas of what amp I can buy? I´m thinkin of the Tech21 Trademark 10. I play alot of stuff but the amp must have alot of presence and metal distortion

Re: Tips on a practice/bedroom amp?
In my room I've got a Line 6 Spider 112. It's graet, got all the tones and sounds great even when turned down low or through headphones.I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine. - Ayn Rand

Get something like a Yamaha DG-Stomp or a Korg Pandora, and plug it through your computer. You can hook up with all kinds of neat-o recording and practicing software, and get a decent sound even at whisper volume.
Digitech also has a new pedalboard that's specifically designed to serve as a recording and practice preamp for your computer.please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking

Well being that everybody so far has mentioned a different amp to you I'll keep the trend going. I have a Roland cube 10 for practice and for under 100 bucks new this is the best amp you can get IMO. It really kicks ass you will not believe the sounds you can get with this little baby.

Good variety of gain settings, reverb, and it sounds great. I would HIGHLY recommend this amp.

Re: Tips on a practice/bedroom amp?
A cheap modeling amp, I beleive, is perfect for practice, especially if you can get a footswitch. Spider would be my choice, personally. I'm a firm believer in crate when it comes to practice amps, except their modeling. I usually use mine just for the traditional distortion tones. When it comes to their modeling amps, in my opinion it sounds like there's a cushion in front of it. Absolutely no balls. You'd probably get more luck with a spider when it comes to FX and modeling.
Just my two cents.
