Re: need help choosing a midi-pedal

I'm using a Midi Mate, and keep a Roland FC200 as backup. The other guitarist in my band has the Berhinger, and not only is it insufficiently flexible for my needs (what's with the uber-limited Control Change mode?), but it doesn't strike me as particular tough - the jacks are mounted directly to the PCB in that pedal and imho they don't look like they'll stand up to much abuse. The Midi Mate is a great pedal, and is capable of sending BOTH Program Change and Control Change messages simultaneously (this is a really great thing, believe me!), but I wish it had the Midi In capabilities of the Roland so I could bulk dump to back up all the patches I've programmed on it (I've got like 63 or something now!) Anyway, if you need to send control note messages (to use the pedal for bass or synth fills), or want to back up your patches the Roland is it. You can hook up to 7 expression pedals into the Roland too, if you want (including the built-in one, I think). Anyway, I've owned a few others, including a couple ARTs (an X-15 and a smaller one), and I swear by the Midi Mate - it's the best all around midi pedal available for under $500 imho...

      I use an art x-11!

It's an all around midi board compatible with any midi programmable unit! Easy to use and also fit's in the cover of my rack!
      Seriously!

The only thing i am missing is it hasn't got a 7-pin midi in. Therefore i have to drag another 10m long wire nekt to 10m long midi cable to get thing working. But really that is not a problem since they are both about 3mm thick!

11miles, Rocktron makes a 7-pin MIDI cable, maybe that will be compatible if that's what you want. Check their site.
