ibanez tube screamer works nice for that, ive been using a tech21 XXL that was one of the few pedals they made that is a standard distortion pedal. no setting switch.

Fulltone FUll Drive II is the best pedal.
Has on/off for the pedal and also a boost on/off for adding more volume.Great pedal!!

The overdrive sound is very similar to TS9 but with more options and wider tone range in my opinion.
