I have built a 2 x 12 cabinet for using at home, and I am about to wire it up. I need to know whether to wire in series or parallel. Both speakers are 8 ohms, and amp output is 8 ohms. If I wire in series do I change the resistance?

Re: Please help quick - speaker cab question.
But if you wire it parallel you'll have a 4 ohm load which could do harm to some amps rated at 8 ohms if you were to crank it up. Make sure your amp output stage can handle the lower resistance. Does your amp have two speaker outputs? If so, wire the cab in stereo with each speaker connected to its own jack and you will have two 8 ohm inputs. My goal in life is to be the kind of asshole my wife thinks I am.

Re: Please help quick - speaker cab question.
Well, since most amps with dual speaker outs are wired in parallel anyway, what difference will it make if the parallel wiring is happening in the cab or in the speaker outs of the amp? Won't it end up as a 4 ohm load either way?
