Dude, funny to see you post this, because I owe you one...

you know... I copied your rig!

After seeing you post about the Behringer BG412H I got one of them, and they are pretty awesome, especially considering the price.

Well, six weeks ago I ordered a Laney TF700 head, but the Laney distributor sucks donkey balls... they said they had them in stock, but it took them one month to realize that they didn't... and that those heads were actually discontinued.

Well, I said fvck it, I've always had an eye on the Peavey XXL anyways ("Steve said it's awesome!" ) and decided to shell out the money for one instead of getting the Laney head with crappy effects.

I ordered it two days ago.
And I got a damn good price on it, too... the store where I ordered it has a special deal with Peavey, so they get them cheaper.
List price in Germany is: Eur 999,-
Normal street price is: Eur 888,-
This store's normal price is: Eur 859,-

But I got it for... Eur 650!

Well, that's because I had to wait so long, and because I buy gear at this store all the time... and because I have a good connection to one of the shop assistants.
He's the drummer for "Stormwarrior", if anyone cares, cool guy.

Well, thing is, I have to wait another four weeks for it to arrive.

Now I hope it's as good as you all say, because no store in Hamburg had it in stock... so I couldn't test it before.

Hm, oops, now that was kinda a ...

I'll shutup now.

I tried an XXL when they first came out, and was pretty impressed. Seemed pretty versatile, more so than the TransTube Supreme head anyway. Two very usable distortion channels, although I wasn't able to crank it up.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">the other heavy channel with the high gain setting is useless at room settings but if ya crank it it comes through nice live , a little bright but cutts through nice in a muddy sounding venue . the clean channel as a bypass sucks cause you can't run a chours through the fx loop oh well if thats all I can ***** about thats not that bad I geuss //Steve

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">it a good rigg man forsure and when you add up the costs it's pretty amasing hey cause anything else that sounds as good and has this much head room would cost ya 2000 3000 bucks at least , I use the ultra channel and the modern High gain sounds nice as well but every heavy channel/setting sounds nice at high volume some only sound good at live volume , and I have never pushed the master volume over 7 and even then the channel volume is at 5 or 6 and live my gain is always at 5 or 6 as well cause any more is just to much , lotsa lotsa head room as well with gain and volume and eq and of course options //Steve

The Randall RH200 is also a pretty good solid state amp.

Re: Peavey XXL head

This is funny (not funny "haha", but funny "aint that wierd?"), I just posted on a thread about preamps stating that a friend of mine just bought a voodu valve, well, anyway, the amp he's using it with is an xxl which he just purchased new about 2 months ago. To us the xxl sounded kinda "thin" and just didn't have much balls. With the voodu as a preamp it sounds f'king killer! I realize that everyones ears are different but this was my experience with the xxl. I'm not totally knocking it though, it's a very nice amp for the money and Peavey stuff is built rock solid.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">maybe you guys had a dud cause I run my bass knob on 5 when I am at live volume cause it just to bassy and punchy with anymore , and the gain I have to turn back to 6 and that tonssa gain as well [on the ultra channel] , and this is through a behringer 4 / 12 cab 400 watts handleing , my old valvestate would have sounded so thin through this cab forsure , but it is a very picky head turn the knobs a little this way and a little that and holy **** the tone totally changes harsh , where as my marshall only sounded good with every thing [except the mids] cranked . //Steve
