Re: Peavey XXL head
Dude, funny to see you post this, because I owe you one...
you know... I copied your rig!
After seeing you post about the Behringer BG412H I got one of them, and they are pretty awesome, especially considering the price.
Well, six weeks ago I ordered a Laney TF700 head, but the Laney distributor sucks donkey balls... they said they had them in stock, but it took them one month to realize that they didn't... and that those heads were actually discontinued.
Well, I said fvck it, I've always had an eye on the Peavey XXL anyways ("Steve said it's awesome!" ) and decided to shell out the money for one instead of getting the Laney head with crappy effects.
I ordered it two days ago.
And I got a damn good price on it, too... the store where I ordered it has a special deal with Peavey, so they get them cheaper.
List price in Germany is: Eur 999,-
Normal street price is: Eur 888,-
This store's normal price is: Eur 859,-
But I got it for... Eur 650!
Well, that's because I had to wait so long, and because I buy gear at this store all the time... and because I have a good connection to one of the shop assistants.
He's the drummer for "Stormwarrior", if anyone cares, cool guy.
Well, thing is, I have to wait another four weeks for it to arrive.
Now I hope it's as good as you all say, because no store in Hamburg had it in stock... so I couldn't test it before.
Hm, oops, now that was kinda a ...
I'll shutup now.

Re: Peavey XXL head
This is funny (not funny "haha", but funny "aint that wierd?"), I just posted on a thread about preamps stating that a friend of mine just bought a voodu valve, well, anyway, the amp he's using it with is an xxl which he just purchased new about 2 months ago. To us the xxl sounded kinda "thin" and just didn't have much balls. With the voodu as a preamp it sounds f'king killer! I realize that everyones ears are different but this was my experience with the xxl. I'm not totally knocking it though, it's a very nice amp for the money and Peavey stuff is built rock solid. My goal in life is to be the kind of asshole my wife thinks I am.
